Learning Support - Special Needs Committee

The School Special Needs Committee focuses on the needs of children with disability and those having learning difficulty. The committee accepts referrals from teachers, administration and parents and prioritises them in accordance with available human resources.

The committee may refer a student to the school Guidance Officer for counselling or psychometric testing and also coordinates Advisory Visiting Teachers who work with students with disabilities.

The committee also manages the Educational Adjustment Profile Process in association with the Guidance Officer and relevant AVT’s. Close liaison with paediatricians and other medical staff promotes good communication relating to student needs and behaviours and enhances outcomes. Parents are encouraged to be an integral part of improving outcomes for their child.
