Physical Education

All students from preschool to year 7
receive regular weekly physical education lessons that aim to
improve gross and fine motor skills, dance co-ordination and ball
handling. These lessons are conducted by our specialist physical
education teacher.
Perceptual
Motor Program

Year 1 students receive additional physical education lessons aimed
specifically at developing perceptual motor skills. The development
of perceptual motor skills by students in this age group is a
continuance of the Physical Education Program and assists in the
development of reading and spatial knowledge as well as physical
coordination.
The program aims to further develop children’s self esteem and
self-confidence thus encouraging them to undertake recreational
activities in the future. Year 1 – 3 students are taught bat and
ball skills, individual and group skipping skills, dance, athletics
and a variety of fun games.
Year 4 – 7 students are taught athletics, fun and fitness and dance.
Minor games – touch football, soccer, sof-crosse, volley ball,
T-ball, softball, frisbie sports, mini–soccer, basketball, jump rope
and ten-pin bowling.

Swimming and
Lifesaving Program

Swimming and lifesaving skills are considered essential exit skills
for students in our school. The ability to assist others and to
ensure that they do not put themselves at risk is essential in a
country such as ours where water sports are a prominent pastime.
Year 1 to 3 students attend swimming lessons under the direction of
trained coaches at Laurie Lawerance Swim School and Year 4 to 7
students attend lifesaving and associated swimming classes at the
Logan Aquatic Centre under the guidance of trained life savers. The
children also have the opportunity to participate in our Swimming
Carnival in years 4 - 7.
We encourage all students to participate in this program.
