Interschool Sport

Teamwork and co-operation are the main skills we encourage with our
students in our interschool sport program. All upper school children
are encouraged to become involved in these program. Many of our
children go on to represent our Logan District, Metropolitan East
Region and some have even gone as far as representing Queensland in
their chosen sport.
Offered in previous seasons have been Rugby League, Mod Tag, Touch
Football, Soccer, AFL, Netball, Softball and Cricket. A different
set of sports is offered for each of the two seasons. - the summer
competition and the winter competition. Involvement is further
encouraged by adjusting the offerings from time to time to reflect
emerging popular sports. Gender equity is reflected by offering
mixed team options as well as dedicated gender sports.
We encourage the participation of all our Year
5, 6 and 7 students .
Programs for children in earlier year levels focus on developing the
skills necessary to participate in interschool sport when they reach
Year 5, 6 and 7.
District Trials

Students turning 10, 11 & 12 have the opportunity to be selected for
the Logan District Team. This includes all major sport codes
including tennis and swimming.
Athletics Carnival

The development of Gross Motor Skills is central to the development
of the school’s athletics program. These skills are developed
through the school’s weekly physical education program.
Each year an athletics skills based ‘Fun Day’ is held for students
in the Preschool – Year 3 level, while students in the upper school
participate in a ‘field events’ competition day and a ‘track events’
competition day.
These days also provide the opportunity for selection of the school
athletics team to represent us at the district, regional and state
athletics meets. Athletics events include:
4 Sprints 60, 80, 100 and 200 metres
4 Middle distance 800 metres
4 Relays
4 High jump
4 Long jump
4 Shot put
4 Discus
4 Ball games
Cross Country

A yearly Cross Country competition provides all students with the
opportunity to complete in a middle distance running event. The
Cross Country course stretches around the perimeter of the school
grounds and includes a number of challenging hill climb areas. Cross
Country Day is a popular day greatly looked forward to by the
students and parents alike. Children benefit from the challenge of
personal improvement. |
