Prep Program acknowledges children as capable learners

It is widely accepted that the early years of learning are among the most significant periods of growth for children. Experiences during this time not only affect cognitive, social and physical development, but deeply influence dispositions to learning and children’s views of themselves as learners.

Springwood Road State School offers a preparatory program that acknowledges children as capable learners who bring knowledge and experiences into the prep setting. It emphasises the importance of building on prior knowledge and providing opportunities for children to learn through multiple pathways.

We offer a play based, problem solving curriculum with staff supporting, scaffolding, facilitating and monitoring learning.

Take a look at the Prep Learning Centre Gallery.

At Springwood Road strong values underpin our Prep to Year 7 curriculum and programs to promote resilience and establishes positive relationships with peers are a feature in our early year’s classrooms and playgrounds.

Our Prep children participate in a Fun Friends Program coordinated by our Guidance Officer and our year one and two classes learn how to resolve and work out problems with our High 5 Program. Each fortnight one of our 7 values is high lighted and becomes a focus for learning and practice right throughout the school.

We have wonderful grounds, resources and excellent teachers that encourage children to inquire, participate and be involved in the learning process. For further information on our program and a tour of our facilities please contact our school office.
